Artist
Jesse Kellman
Born January 22nd 1976, in Haifa Israel, artist Jesse Kellman is
the adopted son of prominent American economist Dr. Mitchell Kellman. During
the early years of his life the family moved often and Jesse found himself
absorbing aspects of all the different cities both nationally and
internationally in which he lived. For the most part he grew up in the New York
Metropolitan area. He always felt on the outside of the mainstream and grew
fond of being the anti- anti. A rebel at a young age he created his own world
and his own ways on how to do things. Sometimes working for him and sometimes
working against.
Jesse has worn many hats in life. He left home at an early age to serve in a
foreign military, spent time working in a tire factory, worked on the streets
of New York City with the Emergency Medical Services as a paramedic, captained
a professional sport fishing boat and owned a top faux finishing and decorative
painting company in Southern California. He has traveled extensively through
out the world and has a robust willingness to absorb what is around him. Some
say his passion for life and experience mirrors that of Hemingway’s.
After 2 years of working the professional sport fishing circuit in Southern
California, Jesse returned home to New York to take part in an architectural
finishing apprenticeship through Master Painter Robert Martinaeu. After
completion, Jesse returned to San Diego to build his own company and lead the
industry in innovative finishes and techniques. At the same time he was also
dealing with presence of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. An ailment he acquired
in the military and with the emergency medical services. It was through the advice of his therapist
that he turned to the canvas and applied his artistic nature to help aid in his
recovery.
The artist’s transition to canvass came naturally and was a wonderful form
of therapy. Jesse brings his oddball views and bold expressions to life. His
many experiences aid him in the underlining message of in his
work. Opinionated, savvy and rough around the edges his art very much mimics
the artist himself. Influenced by the greats of New York City Jesse follows
suit in keeping way outside the lines and continues to create his own style and
medium for what he has to say. His works typically address emotion, family,
adoption, love and loss. There is a human element to his pieces, wether in the
image content or the heavy, hand done applications. He feels that art is human
expression and therefore should have a life-like nature and feel, and its
message should allow the viewer to assimilate with the content.
Artist Jesse Kellman has been painting for more then 6 years now, though his
exploration of the human story has just begun. His work is hung in private
collections in most major cities around the United States. With a strong
exhibition experience and a growing collector base, Jesse is well on his way to
defining a medium.
